Discover the Isles of Skye and Raasay - 17th to 23rd May 2017

“We both enjoyed the Skye trip very much. It was a lovely, friendly group, nice hotels and Darren was a good guide, and very helpful, particularly to Jill and me when we needed help on difficult terrain on the last day. Amanda was, as usual, a good leader. We both really enjoyed ourselves and thank you again for your hard work.” Christine

“ We loved every minute of our holiday, the great walks, lovely food and of course the great company. A special mention must be made to our fantastic guide Darren who looked after us during our trip. His caring and considerate manner on the walks and his great knowledge of the area made this one of our most memorable walking holidays. I would never have achieved Blaven without his help.” Jill and Elwyn

“Two good walks on Raasay were followed by more on Skye including one challenging ascent of Blaven (Bla Bheinn) where the weather tested our resolve! This also showed the benefit of having a knowledgeable and very competent guide. The accommodation on Raasay was very good in an excellent setting, and the food and service were good too. Their packed lunch sandwiches were amongst the best we'd tasted. All of the meals "out" in the evening were enjoyable and the one at Kinloch Lodge was outstanding.” Sarah & Geoff

Patagonia - National Parks, Lakes and Glaciers - 10th to 25th January 2015

"Thanks for another superb vacation to Patagonia. As usual the organisation was faultless, no doubt due to your meticulous planning. Words cannot describe the scenery of the area and we had the added bonus of excellent weather. Difficult to pick out a favourite walk, but we both would vote for Las Torres Sendero del Ascendio which got us so close to the astounding Towers of Paine. Staying at the Hosteria Las Torres was superb in all respects.

Glad we did Iguazu Falls, so deserving of its place in Wonders of Nature in the World. Also the Hotel Loi Suites was a "gem" surrounded by subtropical vegetation. Would have needed no persuasion for us to have extended our stay here. Thanks to our tour leader Geoff. Apart from keeping us informed of places and times to gather, his sense of humour kept those tiring legs going on the more strenuous walks." Charlie and Pat

Azores - July 2013

This extraordinary archipelago has historically formed a vital link between the Old and New Worlds, with a distinctive history and culture. The fusion of vivid green landscapes (the result of the humid climate) and haunting volcanic scenery lends them a unique feel. The cultural mix is fascinating - striking Baroque churches built by the pioneers, bustling ports and great religious festivals.

A cross between Hawaii and New Zealand, the Azores are perfect for exploring on foot and this guided walking holiday covers no less than five of the most stunning islands - São Miguel, Terceira, São Jorge, Faial and Pico.

Scilly Isles - June 2013

Antarctica, land of extremes, is a destination that enthrals all. With its spectacular beauty, inquisitive wildlife prepared to pose beautifully while you get your photograph and magnificent scenery, the Antarctic is a must for travellers in search of unique experiences.

"The whole holiday was a wonderful experience. The organisation, my companions, the boat, crew, fellow passengers and weather all came together at the same time to make an unforgettable holiday. To me it was the best of experiences and I am only just coming down from cloud nine." Val

"Another fantastic holiday, one of the best we have been on. The ship and staff were very good, scenery magnificent, the penguins were everything we expected and the humpback whales just amazing. Many thanks for the Rio arrangements you made for us, it all worked out fine. Geoff was an excellent tour leader. Looking forward to New Mexico." Jill and Elwyn

"Many thanks Chris and Ian. Our first trip with Langdale Holidays and hopefully not our last. That really was the trip of a lifetime. Knowing that almost certainly we will never again set foot on Antarctica, even camera shots do not do justice to what we saw in such a remote area. They will act as reminders for the rest of our life - the true images imprinted in our brain. Thanks to all at Langdale for the chance to visit Antarctica and the excellent organisation of the holiday. We immediately felt at home with our fellow Langdalian travellers which added to our experience. A big thanks to tour leader Geoff for his sterling efforts. Again many thanks to all at Langdale for the trip of a lifetime." Pat and Charlie

"Thank you, we did have a great time. It was a wonderful experience and we saw some amazing sights. The two Humpback Whales which put on a performance for us right next to the ship was the icing on the cake for me, to see them was a long held ambition, and to see them so close was amazing. The penguins kept us entertained, they are interesting and funny to observe, and to be so close to them was an added bonus. The icebergs were spectacular, every shape and size you could imagine and wonderful colours. We both agree that it was a wonderful expedition and we will remember it forever." Margaret and John

"Please sign us up to go again next year!" Simon and Marilena

"Thank you again for providing us with such a magical weekend. It was successful on many counts; a friendly good humoured group of people, a good hotel with an excellent central location, but I think the highlight was the introduction that the holiday gave us to actively participate in totally new quality experiences. The night-time Snowmobile ride was unforgettable and tremendous fun, the Husky ride and tour of their kennels fabulous, and the visit to the Ice Hotel quite an amazing experience. We also appreciated your choice of eating places which together with the Samiland exhibition provided us with a good introduction to authentic Lappish culture. So, well done for putting together such an excellent trip, which having been home only a day, already seems like a wonderful dream... Were we really there?! Sincere thanks!" Peter and Pam

Oman - February 2013

"Somehow we managed to miss saying goodbye at the airport so this letter is a belated thank you for planning such a wonderful holiday in Oman. We found it fascinating and felt truly privileged to have seen so much of the country and its heritage. In particular, we were very touched by the hospitality and kindness of the beekeepers and the very warm welcome we received at The View. We loved the dramatic scenery especially the Balcony Walk and the Wahiba Desert and seem to have also experienced a fair dose of culture; the Grand Mosque, Al Hamra Village and Jabreen Castle were well visit a visit. We were also fortunate to experience all of this in the company of a very sociable group of like-minded travellers. Did you see The Daily Telegraph travel section on 23 February? The front page was all about Oman but the correspondent's trip was not a patch on ours!" Sue Robinson

"A wonderful experience and 'magic carpet' drive through the mountains and deserts of Oman, wonderful sunset in the desert and a grand finale at the Royal Opera House and Shangri-La. The last dinner on the way to the airport was perfect." Roger and Sylvia McDaniel

Electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs and sledges are the principal means of transportation in this car-free town, while trams, cable cars and gondolas provide access to impressive panoramic sights, year-round skiing and excellent walking trails.

"I set off on the Zermatt holiday with doubts about how much I would enjoy the experience. I need not have worried. You and Ian were kindness itself. I enjoyed myself and and returned feeling fitter and much better for the change of scene. You created and atmosphere which bonded the group together and calmly dealt with unexpected crises. Lundy is such a relaxing place and I'm glad I've visited it" Ann Butland

"Lundy was a lovely island and certainly has lots to offer. I thought the whole establishment was very well managed and the staff all most helpful. Rajasthan - November 2010

India's second largest state, Rajasthan was once remarkably prosperous with traders from as far afield as Persia and China crossing its dry plains to reach India's southern ports. "You have the knack of drawing together nice like-minded people. I don't think any of us had visited the Gower before and I was certainly impressed. Your knowledge and experience of the area came in useful and I appreciated the way you moderated the pace. So, thank you very much." Val

Exploring Indochina: Vietnam, Cambodia - March 2010

"Hope the Galapagos trip is as wonderful as ours was. Best wishes and look forward to our next trip with you!" Janet and Steve

Walking and Exploring in South Africa - November / December 2009

"I've now cleared my desk at work and can look back with great satisfaction at another very enjoyable holiday - well up to your usual high standard. It's the extra touches, like joining the locals for the carol service sung in English and Afrikaans and the wine and buffet afterwards, which make your trips memorable.> I was really impressed with South Africa as a country and the hotels and restaurants were all excellent or even better." Colin

"A huge thank you from Hazel and I for giving us such a great trip to South Africa. We enjoyed the good company and the excellent walking (although perhaps some of the gradings need minor revision: eg. Baboon Rock!)" Robert

Canyons of the American West - September / October 2009

"Thank you so much for yet another fabulous holiday. I think I've just recovered! As usual it was great fun and a dream come true for me." Yvonne

"Another wonderful holiday! Amazing scenery, super walks, great company, very caring and knowledgeable guides. Thank you once again and please put us down for the Grand Canyon River Experience in 2011 and New Mexico. Best wishes to you both. P.S. The stretch limo was a great finale!" Jill and Elwyn

"My most grateful thanks to you for yet another great holiday. It was, as always, excellently organised and the walking was terrific and combined with the most magnificent scenery; it all added up to make a holiday to remember for years to come. And a stretch limo!" Doug

Classical Egypt and Nile Cruise - April 2009

"Once again, thank you so much for yet another wonderfully memorable holiday. We packed so much in, yet never felt hurried or hassled (apart from the traders!). If there were any hitches then no-one noticed. It's so consistently reliable. We've never yet had anything but brilliant trips with you. For the Egypt experience there aren't enough superlatives. There's always some added bonus. We've spoken to other people who have had disappointing holidays there - we tell them they should use Langdale. Mr. Fairs never lets that happen!" Chris and John

"This is by way of a belated thank you for organising the Egypt holiday. For me it was the holiday I have long craved and was the experience of a lifetime. Already I find it hard to believe that it was only just over two weeks ago since it started. I could not possibly have had a more comprehensive journey or crammed more into a week than we did. I came home feeling that I had had total value for my money and that not one minute of that holiday had been wasted. The location was magical and the group, the food, the guides and the accommodation were all top-notch. I have only one disappointment - there was no lamb in the desert! I feel truly privileged to have visited Egypt with Langdale Holidays and will wholeheartedly recommend the company to family, friends and colleagues. Your organisational ability and attention to detail was second to none and undoubtedly made the holiday the overwhelming experience that it became. I could not get enough of the power and strength of the antiquities and was utterly impressed and awed by them. They were as huge and impressive as I had imagined and I feel so grateful for having seen so many of them due to your knowledge and experience." Barry Jones
